This merry month of December we have come up with a few ideas for free family holiday cheer. Whether you're on the Northern side, the Southern side or the Eastern side of Louisiana, there are plenty of things to do.
If you don't want to Travel and live in the Lake Charles area, the downtown civic center has plenty of lights and activities for the entire family. On December 7th, the lights festival will begin from Noon to 7:15pm. During that time, Santa will arrive, a parade will be had and Mayor Randy Roach will flip the switch for the giant Christmas tree.
If you wish to do some traveling(and spend a tiny bit of money), Sulphur's 'Christmas Under The Oaks' will take place from Dec 5th-7th.
Dequincy's Railroad Museum will be welcoming the KCS holiday express train Friday, Dec 6th from 4 to 10pm. The museum will be open and lights viewable daily from Dec 2-31st.
Also on Dec 7th, take a ride up to Jennings for the Gumbo Cookoff! A huge array of activities will welcome you there; a parade, gumbo sampling, fireworks and a bonfire!
If you want to take a long family road trip, ride on up to Natchitoches for their lights festival; a must-see stop along the Louisiana 'Trails of Lights'.
Another stop along the Trail of Lights is Monroe and West Monroe, where the Duck Dynasty cast will be welcoming their fans with a parade, a look-a-like contest and much more! Dec, 14th from 10am-11pm.
There are many things to do this holiday season, the list above will be taken on by our family. If you are interested in any of the other amazing events going on around the different areas of Louisiana visit the websites below for more information!
